Our good friends at Fleisher’s, Josh and Jessica Applestone, have decided to get out of the wholesale meat business to focus on their wonderful new retail store in Park Slope. We wish them enormous success with this venture (if you haven’t gone yet, it’s at 192 5th Avenue between Sackett and Union, and you will not find a finer steak in Brooklyn). So we’ve gone hunting for a new supplier who offers the same quality of locally-raised pork. The answer: Greenmarket shopper’s favorite, Flying Pigs Farm, from Sushan, New York. Mike Yezzi and Jen Small have spent the past ten years raising rare, heritage pigs on pasture and forage on the shores of the Battenkill River, and have been nationally recognized for the high quality of their animals. We look forward to a long collaboration with Flying Pigs Farm over the next several years, in the honorable pursuit of perfect pork.
